Company Background

IonQ is a quantum computing and platform company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, with a current market cap of approximately $13.9 billion. Revenue has grown rapidly, reaching $80.1 million in the second quarter of 2026 — a 287% year-over-year increase — and the company raised its full-year 2026 guidance to between $280 million and $290 million on an organic basis, excluding contributions from acquisitions. The company completed its purchase of semiconductor foundry SkyWater Technology on July 31, 2026 and, following that close, issued updated guidance of $450 million to $460 million for the full combined year.

IonQ classifies its warrants as liabilities, not equity, and marks them to market through the income statement each quarter. Warrant liabilities on the balance sheet stood at $70.7 million at year-end 2024, rose to $2.47 billion by year-end 2025 following the company's first large warrant-laden raise, and reached $3.05 billion as of June 30, 2026. The Q2 2026 net loss of $1.87 billion was driven almost entirely by a $1.65 billion non-cash charge from the change in fair value of those warrant liabilities; on an adjusted EBITDA basis, the operating loss was $120.3 million. Cash, cash equivalents, and investments were $3.0 billion at quarter-end, declining to a pro-forma $2.0 billion after accounting for the SkyWater cash consideration.

In November and December 2025, IonQ lost both its Chief Revenue Officer, Rima Alameddine, and another unnamed executive officer, with both receiving severance packages including accelerated equity vesting. The company has since appointed Scott Millard as Chief Business Officer and added three new board members over the past twelve months, reflecting a period of significant organizational change alongside its acquisition program.
